Loughborough University spin out, Previsico is developing flood forecasting technology to produce actionable forecasts enabling people and organisations to proactively mitigate the impact of flooding. This critically includes warnings for flash floods and surface water flooding, caused by ground oversaturation and drainage overflow. These types of floods are currently under informed and make up the majority of the risk in the UK. Climate change is making flooding a growing problem and is becoming increasingly devastating financially. Previsico’s technology is well placed to mitigate the financial impact, through its partnerships with insurance providers.
Previsico received £1.25 million in funding from FWT to accelerate its growth. They have recently been shortlisted for the Barclays Entrepreneur Awards 2022 within the sustainability category, recognising their development work towards minimising the global impact of flooding.
