Extreme E

The project brief

The brief

Following the success of our batteries in Formula E, we went on to win the battery contract for an all-new EV off road series, Extreme E, designed to show the impact that global warming and the destruction of natural habitats is having on remote environments in a very visual way.

The series takes place in some of the remote areas of the world to raise awareness of climate change. In addition to raising awareness of climate change, the series is allowing us to show how safe and reliable electric power can be in a variety of harsh environments and to date we’ve had a 100% success rate in terms of reliability and safety.

The work

Made to withstand extreme environments, conditions and terrains, the batteries will be compatible with Formula E-specification motors and produce a maximum power output of 470kW (equivalent to approx. 630bhp). WAE provide teams with identical 54kWh battery packs- to be used in the first two seasons of Extreme E.
