Nov 18, 2016

WAE was named one of the top innovators of 2016 at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Innovation Awards, which took place 16th November at The Brewery in London.

With entries from 25 countries in the 15 award categories, WAE was awarded the Horizontal Innovation Award for its work bringing Formula One inspired technology and know-how into a growing range of market sectors. The categories that make up the IET Innovation Awards are each independently judged by a panel of leading engineering experts in that field. The winners were announced at a prestigious ceremony hosted by TV presenter and adventurer Rob Bell.

Horizontal Innovation is the effective transfer of knowledge and technology from one sector to another based upon pre-existing technologies and processes, and delivering huge potential benefits in terms of scale, time to market and relative costs. WAE, the engineering and technology business of the Williams Group, which includes WILLIAMS MARTINI RACING, combines cutting edge technology and the Industry’s best engineers with precision and speed to market derived from four decades of success in the ultra-competitive environment of Formula One.

Commenting on the award, Managing Director of WAE Craig Wilson said; “It’s fantastic to add another prestigious award to our growing collection. The IET Awards are leaders in the industry and we’re honored to be included in this year’s list of winners. The Horizontal Innovation category is extremely competitive but this award validates our growing reputation as a leading innovator in taking Formula One inspired know-how and technology into new areas.”
