WAE, the engineering services and technology business of the Williams Group, can confirm that it has signed a technical partnership with the Manor Formula One team that will see WAE supply a number of components to Manor for the 2016 Formula One season.
WAE will be supplying Manor with its transmission and suspension components for next season. These components will be designed and manufactured at the Williams factory in Grove, Oxfordshire. WAE will also supply personnel to join the Manor race team and attend each Grand Prix.
WAE and Manor have a history of technical collaboration, with WAE supplying the team with its KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) during the 2013 Formula One season. This agreement is the latest in a long line of projects that has seen Williams supply components for other racing teams in series such as the World Endurance Championship, BTCC, and Formula E.
Speaking about the agreement Craig Wilson, Managing Director of WAE, said; “Williams has a track record of supplying other racing teams in the design and manufacture of components and this has always been testament to our hard earned reputation for quality, reliability and innovation. With WAE we have the capability to take on more motorsport projects and this new agreement with Manor is an extension of a previous cooperation between our organisations. With Manor transferring to Mercedes power units for 2016 this partnership has made perfect sense given our experience of integrating our mechanical designs with the Mercedes power unit.”
